How would you react if you came to a planet with an atmosphere similar to ours, with beings similar to us, and saw them all breathing the air contained in plastic balls? What would you think if you asked them why they do it and they told you that this air has been bought because it is of better quality than natural? As ridiculous as you find it, that situation is not much different from what is happening today with bottled water in the modern world.

Apart from the undeniable utilitarian sense that it can have to transport and distribute the precious liquid in regions where it is scarce or that have been victims of pollution or natural disasters, that water that is sold at exorbitant prices is nothing special. Only a minimal percent of this product actually comes from springs as commercial advertisements suggest. Most brands do not sell anything other than tap water, purified or filtered by various physical or chemical methods. But even its bacteriological quality is not always guaranteed. In many regions of the United States, the purity of tap water far exceeds that of bottled water. If we add to this the fact that the water in public services is treated with fluoride to protect dental health,Consideration should be given to whether bottled water will not increase the incidence of tooth decay.

If the water in the region where you live does not taste good, an alternative might be to buy aluminum bottles and fill them with filtered water with one of the filters that can be purchased at any store. In this way you will be taking care of your health, your pocket and protecting the environment, all at the same time, because only a fraction of those plastic bottles are recycled, and since they are not made of biodegradable materials, they constitute one of the greatest sources of contamination.
