Video: Documentary I Have Cancer
Within the framework of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), Discovery Family decided to join the cause with a series of PSAs (Public Service Announcements) developed to encourage women to become informed and prevent this disease. In the United States alone this year, 230,480 cases of women with invasive cancer have been reported, according to figures revealed by the American Cancer Society.
On Saturday, October 29 at 9 pm ET, the Discovery Familia will present the documentary I Have Cancer during its "Medical Saturdays" segment. Co-produced by Discovery Familia and Imagina US, the documentary shows the story of Patricia San Pedro, a successful executive with a great professional career whose life undergoes a radical change when diagnosed with breast cancer, a disease that her mother had already suffered 20 years earlier.. Since receiving the news, San Pedro decides to accept her illness as an opportunity to learn and take advantage of her life. This inspiring story airs with a view to making women aware of the disease and to have a real example of fighting it.
Likewise, the television network has joined "Latinas contra el Cancer" a non-profit organization that offers information and support services to the Hispanic community. Viewers of Discovery Familia will be able to see public service announcements throughout the month with testimonies of different women who have suffered from breast cancer. The objective of the channel is to highlight prevention, early detection and family union as the best weapons for containment and survival.
