Only a person indolent and disinterested in the health of their children would think of serving them a dessert as breakfast. At least consciously … Because the sad reality is that many of the cereals that are sold as baby food seem more appropriate as an incentive for them to eat all dinner than as the first nutritious meal of the day.

This is corroborated by a study by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), a nonprofit organization dedicated to consumer research and advocacy on issues such as toxic substances and natural resources. EWG analyzed the sugar percentage of 84 cereal brands among the most popular, and the results are not "sweet" at all. A single cup of children's cereal from 44 of the brands contains more sugar than three Chips Ahoy! A government panel proposed voluntary standards that recommend that children's cereals contain no more than 26% sugar per unit weight, a limit that EWG advocates lowering.

But even so, only 1 in 4 cereals meets the proposed regulations. The amount of sugar in the top ten list ranges from 55.6% to 41%. That is why you have to be the strictest control agency: cross the barrier of colorful designs and carefully read the nutritional content to select the best breakfast for both you and the little ones. If they want to “treat themselves”, maybe you can give it to them… but it is preferable that it be for dessert.
