The title sounds very promising, but the truth is that the number of calories you burn when you are exercising or any other type of activity is not directly linked to the amount of perspiration that leaves your body. Associating sweat with the effectiveness of exercise routines is perhaps one of the most widespread and mistaken myths at the same time. How many times have we not heard phrases like "enough sweat it cost me"? Or how many people have we not seen with sweaters, jackets and waists wrapped in nylon bands "to sweat more and burn more fat"?

What is sweat for?

The human body secretes sweat so that it can cool down when its temperature rises too high. In other words, it is nothing more than a natural cooling system. Thus, the amount of sweat that accumulates on your forehead and in your exercise clothes has more to do with the temperature and your genes (some people sweat more than others by nature), than with the intensity of effort. If you are lying down relaxing on a beach in the Miami sun you will sweat more than if you are jogging in the Central Park in the fall, but in the second case you will burn more calories.

Intensity, on the other hand, does determine how many calories you will burn in a given period of time, and a more accurate way to measure how many calories you burn is to use a calorie calculator. If you want to lose or maintain your weight, but sweat bothers you, it is enough that you exercise at a lower temperature or with less intensity, but longer. If you use perspiration as a symbol, but what you're trying to avoid is effort, there are also ways to lose a few pounds without sweating, among other things, you can eat more frequently, eat breakfast every day and drink plenty of water.
