If you spent the winter wrapped up in layers and layers of clothing, drinking cappuccino to warm yourself up and not exercising much, you're surely already thinking about how to lose a few pounds when temperatures start to rise and it's time to show more skin. For those who are lovers of diets, here we bring you another eating plan that promises to shed off unwanted weight and improve our health: the 8-hour diet. Featured in the book of the same title written by David Zinczenko, with the collaboration of Peter Moore, this diet seems to be less distressing and more effective than it seems.

What does the 8-hour diet consist of?

According to the authors, this diet could not be simpler. For eight hours, the person can eat as much as they want, in the quantities that they want. The remaining 16 hours, however, must be an absolute fast. But do not think that it is an impossible sacrifice: if you consider that we sleep an average of eight hours a day, there would only be eight more hours in which you could not eat anything. Of these, four would correspond to the time after the meal, so you should give up any kind of snacks before going to bed. The other resignation would eliminate breakfast, to which the creators of the diet assure that it has been given too much importance for a long time, and that "perhaps we have been wrong", so that you would not eat anything until four hours after getting up.

The book ensures that fasting, far from being harmful to health, helps improve metabolism, cholesterol levels and blood sugar. The diet has not yet undergone clinical testing, but according to many people's testimonies, it burns fat and loses weight rapidly. The plan is relatively flexible, and can be adopted only one day a week, two or three, or every day. But, like all "miracle" diets, this one has also been rated by some nutritionists as risky and unhealthy.

If you're not excited about burning calories with exercise, or trying current diets is fun, you may have nothing to lose with the 8-Hour Diet. Remember to always consult your doctor about any drastic changes you are going to make in your diet.
