If you have tried to get tired of being an "in shape" girl and you have not succeeded simply because exercise is not your thing, because although it sounds almost impossible, scientists from the University of Sydney are developing a pill that will replace exercise.

In other words, researchers have discovered the exercise molecule, which maps out all the effects that sport has on muscles when the body is in training mode. The study has been able to identify more than 1,000 changes that occur at the molecular level in muscle tissue. Samples were collected from four study participants who gave muscle samples before exercising and after ten minutes of stationary cycling. Research has provided them with the route to mimic this body activity with a medication. “It was long ago thought that there were many reactions that were triggered through exercise. We were the first to create this map and now we know its complexity,”explains scientist Nolan Hoffman.

Thus, there are already several laboratories developing exercise pills. In this first stage they are being tested on animals to assess musculoskeletal performance and improve strength and energy use; that is, the production of stronger muscles. But of course, the benefits of exercise far outweigh its muscle effects. Therefore, the comments were immediate, specialists in the field have their opinions: "No pill can replace the emotional, physical and mental benefits of physical exercise," says Ismail Laher, from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver (Canada).

But these pills could be especially beneficial for people who can't exercise for a variety of reasons. The possibilities opened up by the discovery are more than interesting for people suffering from obesity, cardiovascular or type 2 diabetes or elderly people. "We can take a big leap in the medical field," said Hoffman.

The scientists responsible for the study assure that it will be impossible to replicate all the molecular changes caused by exercise in a single pill and that it remains at least "a decade" for a product to be marketed that takes advantage of the results of the study, so for now, no It is another: to exercise!
