Consuming fresh juice or juice provides our body with essential nutrients such as minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. These nutrients provide us with energy, help with detoxification, stimulate the function of the intestine, relieve constipation, reduce the development of cancer cells and strengthen our body. However, not all juices are created equal. There are juices that could cause unwanted side effects and threaten our health causing diabetes, obesity and intestinal problems.
For example, commercial or canned juices are not as healthy as we might think. The vast majority have been pasteurized. Pasteurization is based on subjecting liquids to a very high temperature for a certain period of time. This is done to prevent bacteria (or food from spoiling quickly) and thus avoid infections and food poisoning. However, most of the nutrients in fruits and vegetables are lost during this process, turning the food into something dead and of no nutritional value. Also to these juices additives, chemicals, artificial colors and flavors are added that are not healthy for our body. This allows the drinks to appear "fresh" as much as in color and flavor. Lastly, these juices often contain a large amount of added sugar, which leads to obesity and health problems like diabetes, heart problems and cancer, achieving exactly the opposite of what you intend.
To obtain the benefits of fruit and vegetable juices, they must be consumed fresh, freshly squeezed, preferably in less than 24 hours, since the juices begin to lose their vitamins and nutrients if they last longer. For greater benefits, balance your juices by adding vitamin C (orange, lemon, apple, pomegranate …) since this vitamin contains antioxidants that strengthen and protect our bodies from free radicals. Anti-inflammatories (ginger, turmeric, garlic, rosemary) which helps reduce inflammation by reducing body aches and vegetables (broccoli, celery, spinach, cucumber, etc.) which provide a high content of nutrients to our body.
