Do you have a life full of activities and responsibilities, and feel like you don't even have time to breathe? Maybe your heart is at risk from stress
Stress is a state of physical or emotional stress, a reaction of the body to a challenge or a demand. It can come from any situation and generate feelings of frustration, anger or nervousness.
It is capable of causing a malfunction of the inner layers of the arteries (endothelium), which can harden or increase their thickness, generating a vascular alteration or arteriosclerosis. Stress is something similar to what tobacco or hypertension would generate in the human body.
Cardiologists warn that coronary stress problems have increased, and more and more patients are observed with very few risk factors, but with a lot of stress, which leads to strokes. These happen when blood flow stops for a few seconds to a part of the brain, which stops receiving nutrients and oxygen.
Stress secretes hormones that increase blood pressure, heart rate, and the force of heart contraction, which can lead to plaque rupture, thrombosis, or lead to heart attack or sudden death.
The solution is in your hands, you have to learn to control stress, and this is achieved knowing what situations are what liberate you, such as dancing, meditating, going to the forest or doing physical exercise. According to a study by the Swedish university Örebro, regular dance practice can alleviate symptoms of stress and depression, headaches and muscle tension, while 20 minutes a day of meditation for a few weeks can provide benefits such as improving the immune system and reducing stress.
Also consider jogging, walking, gardening, biking, cleaning the house, swimming, lifting weights, or anything else that makes you feel useful and happy. Combining this with a balanced diet avoiding unhealthy habits such as smoking, drinking or consuming toxic substances, will considerably reduce your stress.
