All of them showed a visible improvement in the tone of their face and a much more attractive general appearance. This effect is due to carotenoids, a reddish vegetable pigment that has an antioxidant function for our body. Our skin is exposed daily to oxidants such as ultraviolet rays and ozone, which cause cellular aging and carotenoids counteract its effects, slowing down this deterioration.

But the benefits of carotenoids are not only those, they also keep our skin hydrated and provide a tan tone. Eating carrots, for example, a few days before sunbathing, activates the melanin production of the skin and helps protect it, giving us a faster and much longer-lasting tan, naturally. Regular use of these principles has also been shown to reduce the likelihood of incidence of some types of skin cancer.
