Although there are many methods today, such as creams, pills and acne medications, we must not rule out that we can treat it with very effective home remedies. However, we should know that there are also many myths about other methods that do not really work and may even be counterproductive to the problem of acne.
The facial care expert, and known as The Beauty Alchemist, Dr. Maribel Pedrozo from Biobell Oriental MedSpa in Miami, told us about some remedies that she considers effective, although we should not always rule out consulting our dermatologist before undergoing any type of treatment even if it seems harmless.
"It is important to point out that these treatments are topical and it is important that we consult a specialist to identify the root of the problem," explained Pedrozo.

This essential oil is used as an antiseptic treatment for cuts and scrapes, burns and insect bites and can also help heal acne.

3.- Lemon and striped carrot
This home remedy consists of mixing 2 medium carrots with the juice of 3 squeezed lemons. Once you have mixed it well, apply it to the acne area as a mask and leave it to act for 20 to 30 minutes, then rinse it with clean water. This remedy has the property of eliminating acne and whitening the dark areas that it has generated.

Crush a piece of fresh pineapple until pureed, apply it to the affected part and leave it to work for 10 to 15 minutes. Thanks to the fact that pineapple contains high concentrations of vitamins C, it helps us to produce collagen, preventing acne from reappearing.

Remedies that DO NOT work
1.- Bicarbonate:
Baking soda is highly alkaline, which means it alters the acidity or natural pH of the skin, making it not a remedy for a skin problem like acne.
2.- Exfoliate:
It is not recommended to exfoliate the skin when suffering from acne. It can irritate and inflame your face.
3.- Apply toothpaste:
This is a great myth that surely one of your relatives will have told you. Remember that toothpaste is for the teeth, not the face. It is true that toothpaste can lower inflammation and dry the pimples; However, this is a very strong product applied in a very sensitive area.
