I recently heard some friends say that by washing my hair I reversed the process and applied the conditioner before the shampoo, it would make my hair look brighter and fuller. Out of curiosity to know if this is true, I consulted our expert stylist Epy Joel, from Avant Garde Salon and Spa in Miami.

"This is recommended depending on the condition of your hair. It is not that it is for a specific type of hair, it is that this can affect the results in the appearance of the style that you want to wear”, explained the stylist.

EYE, this change in order can affect the product or result if you do not do it correctly. "Reversing the process gives you all the advantages of a great conditioner, but eliminating the conditioner residues and leaving the hair with more volume and with much more life," said Epy Joel. "Important that you know that it is not that you are not conditioning your hair, it is simply that your hair will be clean of residues, which will make it look with more volume," he added.

Now this change, like any other, must be done correctly to achieve the results we expect. The specialist explained the steps we must follow:

Thoroughly wet your hair as you normally do, then apply the conditioner all over your hair and let it rest for 10 minutes. When those 10 minutes are up, apply the shampoo without rinsing the conditioner, since the shampoo is what will help to remove the residues of the conditioner.

  • Then rinse and dry as you normally do. The result: A hair with volume, light and restored.
  • How often is it recommended to do it this way?

“If you are one of those who wash their hair more than once a week, I do not recommend that you do it whenever you wash your hair, in this case you could do it once a week. Now, if you don't wash your hair so regularly, do it at least once a month, "he emphasized.

"When we work in this order of application, we can consider that we are applying a conditioning mask," added Epy Joel.
