High Heels A Sign Of Power?

Even though high-heeled shoes recently became the latest trend (and women's favorite for comfort), most professional women still wear high heels, especially in key situations, such as business meetings., certain transactions and to confront others in the work environment.

An interesting article this week in the fashion section of the Wall Street Journal cites information from the American Podiatric Association (the medical science that studies everything related to the feet) in which it concludes that 77% of American women admit to wearing a pair of high heels on special occasions.

In the article, the reporter takes a fun tour of several women's offices and finds, on most occasions, that they have a good pair of heels on the desk for when the opportunity arises. The reason? Many women interviewed recognized that even though heels are much more uncomfortable, they are a kind of sign of power. Others say that they resort to a good pair of high heels when they have to face a situation of labor confrontation, either with subordinates or with their superiors.

Be? For me this has more to do with the height of each person and how well you feel or not with yourself. I am fascinated by the sexy look that only a good pair of heels gives you, but I can't stand them for more than a couple of hours. And you?
