This dress has gone viral on social networks and even the famous ones think about the color it has. How is it possible that some people see it in white and gold and others in blue and black? For us it is clearly white and gold.
Kim Kardashian sees it white and gold, while Taylor Swift sees it blue and black:
The colors of a simple dress have become the great debate of the day and the center of discussions on social networks. The origin of this commotion arises when Caitlin McNeill, a 21-year-old girl from Scotland, shared on her Tumblr a photo of the dress asking what color people saw it, since their own friends did not agree.
Apparently this happens because our minds are inverting the colors of the dress, and they really are black and blue. And this video proves it:
Apparently it has to do with the perception of light and how the brain interprets information contextually, as published by Wired magazine. Bevil Conway, a neuroscientist at Wellesley College, explains that in the image, the eyes are trying to compensate for the lighting in the background of the photograph with the color of the main object: the dress. Some eyes remove the blue hue and see the gold and white garment, while others remove the light shades from the background and see the blue and black dress. "I have been studying individual differences in color vision for 30 years and this is one of the largest individual differences I have ever seen in my life," says the scientist.
After this, do you still see it white and gold? Here you can see the real dress.
