The beautiful New York Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes show that has been presented at Radio City Music Hall since June 15 and will run until August 7 has a double Latin stamp: the dazzling costumes of the dancers were designed by second consecutive year for the Dominican Emilio Sosa and the performance of Jenna Ortega of Mexican - Puerto Rican origin. Total pride!
Woman always had access to it and we could not stay with the desire to know the satisfaction she feels for being part of this show that brings together thousands of inhabitants and tourists in the Big Apple.
“For me as a New York and Latino designer it is an honor. I thank my directors (Mia Michaels, Douglas Carter Beane and Patrick Fahey) for trusting my talent, that makes me feel great. But, for me it means like a love letter for everything New York has given me,”says this talented fashion creator.
The inspiration to dress the slender dancers was born from the city, the colors seen in every corner, the energy, the way people dress in the wide streets of New York and the history of the rockettes. Sosa defines them this way: "I wanted to represent them as the most beautiful, beautiful, intelligent, strong and the costumes represent all of that."
In recent years, Emilio has also launched his own line called ESOSA. Does it reflect Latin roots?
“My race fascinates me. Latinos are lovers of life, love, and family, but as a Latino I teach my culture through the use of colors in the costumes,”says Sosa, who was nominated for the Rony Award for costume design in the musical Porgy and Bess, in 2012.
The designer assures that to stand out in the fashion industry he always thought of as a professional, since he is proud of his culture. And that you want children to realize that dreams come true. He did it when he got to Radio City.

“I want to tell Latino or non-Latino children to think about their goals. That they do not allow themselves to be overcome by not understanding the language or their nationality; art and talent have no race”, he concludes.
About the show
The New York Spectacular focuses on the adventure of two children who during the holidays in the Big Apple separate from their parents. For some reason, the city comes alive to show them its wonders, this while the boys look for their parents.
